Whirlpool Recalls Glass Cooktops that can turn themselves On

As announced by U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission  Whirlpool recalled their glass cooktops on Wednesday. Over 27,000 cooktops turn on by themselves and set fire hazards. But the recall could not provide any further information regarding how the cooktops turn on by its own.

133 complaints were reported by whirlpool concerning this issue. Whirlpool started its mass produce its glass cooktops from December 2016 through July 2019. Total of 17 models sold at Lowe’s, The Home Depot, Best Buy, and home improvement stores affected.

And the company is providing free reinstallation of the cooktops and urging the costumers to report the issue.

The company also instructed the costumers to not to leave any fire catchy substances near or empty cookware on the cooktops as 14 incidents of fire and two petty injuries have been reported. The models that are mentioned in the Consumer Product Safety Commission website are recalled.
